What is Avastin? What disease is Bevacizumab indicated for?

• The drug Avastin (Bevacizumab) is used with chemotherapy to treat cancer of the colon (large intestine) or rectum that has spread to other parts of the body.
• Bevacizumab is also used with chemotherapy to treat certain types of lung cancer.
• The drug Avastin (Bevacizumab) is also used to treat spongioblastoma (a type of brain tumor) that has already been treated with other drugs.
• Bevacizumab is also used in combination with other drugs to treat kidney cell cancer (RCC, a cancer that starts in the kidneys) that has spread to other parts of the body.
• The drug Avastin (Bevacizumab) is a drug called an anticholinergic agent. It works by stopping the formation of blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to tumors. This can slow the growth and spread of tumors.

Avastin dosage 100mg

Metastatic colorectal cancer:

• Step 1: 5 mg / kg / time, every 2 weeks; or 7.5 mg / kg / time every 3 weeks;
• Step 2: 10 mg / kg / time every 2 weeks; or 15 mg / kg / time every 3 weeks.

Local recurrent breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer:

• 10 mg / kg / time every 2 weeks or 15 mg / kg / time every 3 weeks.

Progressive, metastatic / recurrent non-small cell lung cancer:

• use a platinum double chemotherapy regimen of 4-6 cycles, followed by Avastin monotherapy until disease progression.
• With cisplatin-containing regimens: Avastin dose is 7.5 mg / kg / time, every 3 weeks;
• with carboplatin-containing regimens: Avastin dose is 15 mg / kg / time, every 3 weeks.

Progressive & / or metastatic renal carcinoma:

• 10 mg / kg / time, every 2 weeks.

Glioblastoma, malignant glioma (Stage IV-WHO):

• 10 mg / kg / time, every 2 weeks or 15 mg / kg / time, every 3 weeks.

The elderly do not adjust the dose.

Contraindications to the use of Avastin 100mg
