What is Zoladex?
Zoladex contains the active ingredient Goserelin, 3.6 mg, which is a form of a hormone that regulates many processes in the body. Goserelin stimulates the body's production of certain hormones. Effect of medicines:
In men the drug is used to treat symptoms of prostate cancer.
In women the drug is used to treat breast or endometrial cancer. Goserelin is also used in women to prepare the uterine lining to remove the endometrium (surgery to correct abnormal uterine bleeding).

Indications for treatment
Men's use of the drug Zoladex: it is used to treat prostate cancer. It works by reducing the amount of 'testosterone' (a hormone) produced by your body.
In women, the drug is used to:
Treatment for breast cancer.
Treatment of endometriosis. This is where cells typically only found in the lining of the uterus (uterus) are found elsewhere in your body (usually on other structures near the uterus).
Treatment of uterine fibroids.
Make the lining of the uterus thinner before you have surgery.
Supportive treatment of infertility (along with other drugs). It helps control the release of eggs from the ovaries.
In women, Zoladex works by reducing the amount of 'estrogen' (a hormone) produced by your body.
Contraindications to the use of drugs
If you are allergic to Goserelin or any other ingredient of the drug.

Dosage of the drug Zoladex
Usual Dosage of Zoladex for Prostate Cancer:
For the treatment of prostate cancer relief: 3.6 mg or 10.8 mg subcutaneously into the upper abdominal wall at once. Dosage of 3.6 mg may be repeated every 28 days.
The dose of 10.8 mg may be repeated every 12 weeks. For long term administration unless clinically inappropriate. For use in the treatment of stage B2-C prostate cancer: When used in combination with radiation therapy and flutamide in patients with stage T2b-T4 (stage B2-C) prostate cancer, treatment should be initiated. treatment 8 weeks before initiation of radiation therapy and should be continued during radiation therapy.
Therapeutic dose for endometriosis :
For use in the treatment of endometriosis, including pain relief and reduction of endometrial damage during treatment: 3.6 mg subcutaneously into the abdominal wall on one occasion.
Dosage of 3.6 mg may be repeated every 28 days. The recommended duration of therapy is 6 months.
Dosage for breast cancer - Mild relief:
For use in the treatment of palliative breast cancer: 3.6 mg injected subcutaneously into the upper abdominal wall once. Dosage of 3.6 mg may be repeated every 28 days. For long term administration unless clinically inappropriate.
Dosage for abnormal uterine bleeding:
For use as a thinning agent of the lining of the uterus before endometrial resection for abnormal uterine bleeding: 1 or 2 of 3.6 mg injected subcutaneously (each 4 weeks apart).
When a depot is used, surgery should be performed for 4 weeks. Once two warehouses are managed, surgery should be performed within 2 to 4 weeks after taking the second warehouse.
How to use the drug Zoladex
Zoladex injection is injected into the skin of the upper abdomen every 28 days.

Note when using drugs
You should not use Zoladex if you are allergic to Goserelin, or: If you are allergic to other hormonal drugs such as leuprolide (Lupron, Eligard, Viadur), nafarelin (Synarel), or ganirelix (Antagon).
To make sure Zoladex is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had:
Diabetes;
Heart disease, heart attack, or stroke;

Osteoporosis or low bone density;
A condition that affects your spine;

Medications can reduce bone density, increasing your risk of osteoporosis.
For pregnant & lactating women
Do not use the medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Do not take Zoladex if you are trying to become pregnant (unless it is being used as part of infertility treatments).
Do not use 'birth control pills' (birth control pills) while you are taking it. Use barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms or diaphragms (caps).

Drug side effects

Painful or difficult urination;

Headache;

Change in breast size;
Acne, skin rash, or itching.
Health status
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before using Zoladex:
If you have high blood pressure.
If you have any heart or blood vessel condition, including heart rhythm problems (arrhythmia), or are being treated with medicine for these conditions. The risk of heart rhythm problems may increase with medications.
Drugs that interact with the drug Zoladex 3.6 mg?
Medications can cause serious heart rhythm problems, especially if you take several medications at the same time, including antibiotics, antidepressants, heart rhythm medications, antipsychotics, cancer medications , malaria, HIV or AIDS.
