What is Revolade?

The drug Revolade contains the active ingredient Eltrombopag; drugs belong to a group of drugs called thrombopoietin receptor agonists. The drug is used to increase the number of platelets in the blood of adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).

The active ingredient Eltrombopag in the drug is also used to increase platelet counts for people with chronic hepatitis C virus infection, so they can use interferon to treat infections.

It is also used to treat adults with severe aplastic anemia (SAA) when other treatments are ineffective.

Indications for drug treatment

  • Revolade is used in patients with chronic thromboembolism (ITP) who are 1 year or older who cannot tolerate other treatments (e.g. corticosteroids, immunoglobulins).
  • Use in adult patients with chronic hepatitis C (HCV) for the treatment of thrombocytopenia, where the degree of thrombocytopenia is a major factor preventing the initiation or limiting the ability to maintain optimal interferon-based therapy
  • The drug is indicated for adult patients with severe unexplained anemia (SAA) who could not tolerate prior immunosuppressive therapy or received severe treatment and are not suitable for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. .

Contraindications to the use of drugs

Hypersensitivity to eltrombopag or to any of the excipients of Revolade.

Dosage and usage of the drug Revolade 50mg

Dosage of the drug Revolade for chronic immune thrombocytopenia

Adults

  • Initial dose: 50 mg once a day.
  • Maximum dose: 75 mg once a day.

Children (from 1 - 5 years old)

  • Initial dose: 25 mg once daily.
  • Maximum dose: 75 mg once a day.

Dosage changes: Your doctor will check your blood each week to check if this medicine is working for you. Based on your platelet count, your doctor will either increase or decrease your dose.

How to use the drug Revolade

  • Use the drug according to the dosage and prescription of your doctor.

  • Hematoma;
  • Sore throat and discomfort when swallowing, pneumonia, sinus, tonsils, nose and throat;
  • Influenza pneumonia;
  • Loss of appetite;
  • Swollen joint pain caused by uric acid (gout);
  • Sleep problems, depression, lack of interest, changes in mood;
  • Migraine;
  • Ear pain, feeling of rotation (dizziness);
  • Rectal cancer;
  • Kidney problems;
  • The amount of blood decreased;
  • Changing the composition of the blood changes uric acid levels, calcium and potassium;
  • Generally feeling unwell, a high temperature, feeling hot, or have chest pain;
  • Pain when urinating.

Some people may experience side effects other than those listed. Check with your doctor if you notice any symptoms that worry you while you are taking Revolade medicine.

Change blood cells: the drug Revolade 50mg stimulates the cells in the bone marrow to produce platelets as well as other blood cells. Sometimes this causes changes in the blood cells or bone marrow that can increase the risk of bone marrow cell disorders and blood cancer.

Breast-feeding: It is not known if the active ingredient eltrombopag present in Revolade passes into breast milk. If you are a nursing mother and are taking this medicine, it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breastfeeding.

Other drug interactions with drugs Revolade 50mg

Increased side effects from other drugs: Taking it with certain drugs increases your risk of side effects from these drugs. Examples of these drugs include:

Antacids, vitamins, or supplements that contain calcium, aluminum, iron, selenium, zinc, or magnesium. To avoid interactions, you should take eltrombopag two hours before or four hours after taking any of these products.

Interaction with food

  • Foods containing calcium can make Revolade less effective. These foods include dairy products, such as milk and cheese.
  • Take the medicine at least two hours before eating calcium rich foods, or four hours after eating calcium rich foods.

Storage of Revolade 50mg

  • You should store the drug at room temperature, dry, avoid direct sunlight exposure.
