What is Nexavar medicine?
Nexavar drug is a cancer medicine containing the active ingredient sorafenib. It is available in the form of 200mg tablets. Cancer drugs interfere with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.
Medication is a targeted therapy. The drug is classified as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, a vessel formation inhibitor, and a VEGF inhibitor. The drug has not been studied in children.

Indications for use of the drug
The drug is an anti-cancer drug used to treat a certain type of liver, kidney, or thyroid cancer called:
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC, a type of liver cancer), when it cannot be treated with surgery
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC, a type of kidney cancer)
Differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC, a type of thyroid cancer) is no longer treatable with radioactive iodine and is in progress.
Contraindicated for use
Do not take the medicine if you are hypersensitive to sorafenib or any ingredient of the drug.
Dosage of drug Nexavar 200mg
Usual Adult Dose for Renal Cell Carcinoma: 400mg, twice a day, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
Usual adult dose for thyroid cancer: 400mg, twice a day, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
Usual adult dose for HCC: You take 400mg, 2 times / day, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
How to use the drug
Swallow Nexavar tablets with water.
Do not take this medicine with food or high-fat meals, as this may make the medicine less effective.
Take it at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor told you to. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
It is important to take this medication at about the same time each day , to have a steady amount in the blood.

You should not use Nexavar if you are allergic to the active ingredient sorafenib in it, or if you have squamous cell lung cancer and you are being treated with carboplatin and paclitaxel.
To make sure the medicine is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
You are having heart problems, chest pain, or heart attack;
High Blood Pressure;
Electrolyte imbalance (such as abnormal levels of calcium, magnesium or potassium in your blood);
Bleeding problems;
Surgery.
Sorafenib can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects if the mother or father is using this medicine.
If you are a woman, do not use the drug Nexavar if you are pregnant. Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while you are using this medicine and for at least 6 months after your last dose.
If you are a man, use effective birth control if your partner is pregnant or likely to become pregnant. Continue using birth control for at least 3 months after your last dose.
Tell your doctor right away if a pregnancy occurs while either mother or father is using medication.
Do not breast-feed while using this medicine and for at least 2 weeks after your last dose.
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Nexavar, such as: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in your face or throat, serious skin reaction (fever, sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling).
What to do in case of an overdose of Nexavar drug?
Call 911 or go to the nearest local Medical Station right away.
Of course, you need to keep a record and bring a list of all medications you have taken, including prescription and over-the-counter.
What to do if I miss a dose?
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as possible.
But if it is almost like the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the time as planned.
Do not take double the prescribed dose.
Side effects of the drug Nexavar
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Nexavar, such as: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in your face or throat, severe skin reaction (fever, sore throat, burning eyes skin pain, red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling).
Call your doctor at once if you have:
Fast or pounding heartbeat;
Difficulty breathing, dizziness;
Easy bruising or bleeding (nosebleeds, bleeding gums);
Heavy menstrual periods or unusual vaginal bleeding;
Pain, redness, swelling, rash, blisters or peeling in the palms of your hands or the soles of your feet;
Fever with severe nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain;
The incision or wound does not heal;
Liver problems: loss of appetite, stomach pain (upper right), nausea, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice or eyes;
Signs of bleeding inside the body: pink or brown urine, unusual vaginal bleeding, bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
Your cancer treatments may be delayed or permanently stopped if you have certain side effects.
Common side effects of the drug Nexavar may include:
Bleed;
Feeling tired;
Vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain;
High Blood Pressure;
Rash;
Weight loss.

Warning about drug Nexavar
You should not take the drug Nexavar 200mg if you have squamous cell lung cancer and you are being treated with carboplatin (Paraplatin) and paclitaxel (Onxol, Taxol, Abraxane).
Medication can cause heart problems. Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you experience chest pain and severe dizziness, fainting, sweating, or feeling short of breath.
It can also cause serious bleeding. Call your doctor if you have blood in your urine or stools, unusual vaginal bleeding, severe stomach pain, coughing up blood or any bleeding that will not stop.
For pregnant & lactating women
Women who avoid pregnancy, women of reproductive age should be informed about risks such as the possibility of embryonic malformations (teratogenicity), poor pregnancy; development and possible stillbirth (embryotoxicity).
Breastfeeding women: stop breastfeeding during treatment with sorafenib.

Drug interactions Nexavar
Other drugs can affect the removal of sorafenib from your body, which may affect how sorafenib works. Examples are rifamycins (such as rifampin, rifabutin), St. wort. John, drugs used to treat seizures (such as carbamazepine, phenytoin), among others.
Storage of drug Nexavar
You should store the drug at room temperature, dry, avoid direct sunlight exposure.
You should not store the medicine in the refrigerator.
Keep medicine out of reach of children.
You do not throw medications in the toilet or plumbing pipes.
