 What is Vemlidy?

Vemlidy drug with active ingredient Tenofovir Alafenamide in tablet form for oral use to treat hepatitis B. The drug is researched and manufactured by Gilead Sciences Ireland UC – AI LEN.

Vemlidy is used:

  • In cases of viral infections, it is especially effective in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in the compensated stage (liver function remains).
  • Cases of patients with chronic hepatitis B with symptoms of jaundice, elevated liver enzymes, loss of appetite, and fatigue also respond well to the drug.
What are the uses of Vemlidy?

The active ingredient in Vemlidy, tenofovir alafenamide, works by stopping the hepatitis B virus in the liver from replicating. It is converted in the body to the active compound tenofovir.

Tenofovir works by blocking the action of reverse transcriptase, an enzyme produced by the hepatitis B virus that allows it to reproduce on its own in the cells it has infected.
